ABOUT

As a kid, I cut my hair and glued it to my drawing. Mainly because drawing hair is hard, but also because I wasn’t happy with any other way to represent it. 

As far as I can remember, I have always been interested in systems of representation, the construction of images and multiple ways of seeing.

In my work, I explore topics around identity and its politics. Looking at how one’s idea of reality is constructed socially and culturally.

I like to ask questions. My work is research-based. I use voice, archive, sound and text to create films, essays or workshops.

I also work a lot in collaboration. For example in video, I often collect footage by giving the camera directly to others, working from found footage and archival material. I believe in working with rather than for.

I often take a strong political stand, challenge patriarchal, colonialist and elitist systems. I consider my work as an experimental form of a mix between anthropology and journalism. It is an attempt to express an experience, to capture a question, to present a quest.
